About

Scott Houy has been a teacher at Monterey High School since 2007. He has taught Biology, Chemistry, Physics, IPC, Environmental Systems as well as coached Volleyball, Basketball, Softball and Baseball during his 10 years at Monterey High School. Currently, Mr. Houy teaches the 2nd, 3rd and 4th years of PLTW Engineering at Monterey High School. His style of teaching is open ended and project based. Students can expect to have individual and group assignments throughout the course. The course and workload is designed to challenge the student and encourage success. Additionally, Mr. Houy is the robotics and automation instructor and mentor for FIRST robotics Team 4734.

About

Ms. Lara has been teaching science at Monterey High School since 2008. Throughout her career at Monterey, Ms. Lara has taught several science classes including IPC, Chemistry, Pre-AP Chemistry and Anatomy & Physiology. Since her selection as the Project Lead the Way Biomedical Science teacher, Ms. Lara has attended PLTW Biomedical Science training a the University of Texas in Tyler each summer. This year Ms. Lara is teaching PLTW Principles of Biomedical Science, PLTW Human Body Systems, Anatomy & Physiology and AVID. In addition to her teaching duties, Ms. Lara has served as the Sophomore Class Sponsor since 2009.
