Ozempic Shortage
If you are impacted by the Ozempic shortage, you may have a few options:
Novo Nordisk has confirmed that the shortage is expected to resolve around mid-March. They also confirmed that all doses are being shipped. So, another pharmacy in the area may have Ozempic in stock. Your pharmacist might be able to check other in-network pharmacies near you.
You should also speak with your doctors regarding a switch to another GLP-1, if necessary, to avoid a gap in care. Alternatives include Ozempic, Rybelsus (oral), Trulicity, and Victoza.
Another potential option that doctors may consider would be to switch your medication to another class referred to as SGLT2 inhibitors. This class of oral medications works by removing blood sugar through the kidneys. Examples of this class of medications include Jardiance, Farxiga, and Invokana.
Remember, it is important to communicate any changes with your doctor. They will determine if a switch is appropriate.
