Voter Registration in Lubbock ISD
Organizations who wish to set up voter registration at Lubbock ISD events must comply with the following guidelines:
Lubbock ISD Voter Registration Policy
Purpose
To provide clear guidelines for organizations and individuals who wish to conduct voter registration activities at Lubbock ISD events. This policy ensures that such activities are conducted in a non-partisan manner and aligned with Lubbock ISD’s commitment and legal obligation to neutrality in political matters.
Scope
This policy applies to all organizations and individuals who wish to register voters at Lubbock ISD events. It is specifically for registering adults at district events and does not apply to the registration of students.
Guidelines
Non-Partisan Requirement
All organizations conducting voter registration must adhere to a non-partisan approach. This means that no political party, candidate, or policy advocacy is to be promoted or opposed during the voter registration process.
Organizations must have a clear non-partisan statement in their bylaws and provide a copy of this statement to Lubbock ISD upon request.
Registration Process
Only adults, staff, and event attendees who are eligible to vote in Texas may be registered. Registration of students is governed by a separate policy and is not permitted under these guidelines.
Organizations must ensure that all voter registration materials comply with state and federal laws.
Event Coordination
Organizations wishing to conduct voter registration must seek prior approval from Lubbock ISD’s Communications and Community Relations Office at least two weeks before the event.
Approval will be contingent upon the organization’s adherence to the non-partisan requirement and the availability of appropriate spaces at the event.
Organizations may not disrupt the normal flow of the event and must station themselves in areas designated by Lubbock ISD.
Conduct
All volunteers must behave respectfully and professionally at all times.
Volunteers may not pressure or coerce individuals into registering to vote.
All interactions must be conducted in a way that maintains the integrity and neutrality of the voter registration process.
Distribution of Materials
Only voter registration materials may be distributed. No other literature, pamphlets, or materials related to political parties, candidates, or specific policies are allowed.
All materials must be pre-approved by Lubbock ISD.
Compliance and Monitoring
Lubbock ISD reserves the right to monitor voter registration activities at any event to ensure compliance with this policy.
Any violations of this policy may result in the immediate cessation of voter registration activities and potential exclusion from future Lubbock ISD events.
Reporting Issues
Any concerns or issues related to voter registration activities should be reported to the event coordinator or Lubbock ISD’s Communications and Community Relations Office immediately.
Approval and Implementation:
This policy is effective immediately upon approval by Lubbock ISD. All organizations are required to sign an acknowledgment of these guidelines before conducting voter registration at any Lubbock ISD event.
For questions or to submit a request to conduct voter registration, please contact the Communications and Community Relations Office at 806-219-0010.
