When an injury occurs at school that requires or may require medical attention:

Notify the principal and/or supervisor in charge;
Allow the school nurse to assess the situation when possible;
Notify the Risk Management Office to provide the official ‘Employer’s First Report of Injury’ and to receive instructions. Lubbock ISD cannot authorize treatment without the Employer’s First Report of Injury;

The employee should identify as an employee of Lubbock ISD and inform the provider the injury is work-related. Do not provide personal insurance identification/information for a Workers’ Compensation appointment.

If a life-threatening situation occurs, please call for emergency help, and then call the Risk Management Office. (219-0280)

Due to changes in Workers’ Compensation Law, many doctors and facilities do not take WC cases. It is imperative employees inform the Risk Management Office of injuries as soon as possible.
