Last Thursday was World Down Syndrome Day, and schools around the district helped spread awareness.
Hardwick ES celebrated the day by wearing blue and yellow clothing and accessories that matched the ribbon representing Down Syndrome. Similarly, Whiteside ES wore mismatched socks as a symbol reflecting the karyotype of Ds chromosomes, which look like socks! This effort by schools and students to bring awareness to Down Syndrome initiates conversations and fosters a better understanding of how to treat others with kindness.
