Lubbock ISD will have athletes from Coronado, Monterey and Lubbock High advancing to the state championships for a total of 26 athletes, the possibility of four more after the call-ups are announced on Thursday. The State Swimming and Diving Championship will be on Feb. 17-18 in Austin at the University of Texas Joe Jamail Aquatic Center.
In the team standings: the Lubbock High girls finished second, the Coronado girls finished in third place and the Monterey girls finished in ninth place. The Lubbock High boys finished second, the Coronado boys finished in fourth place and the Monterey boys finished in sixth place. Our Lubbock ISD girls won seven out of twelve events and the boys won three events, including two of the six relays. Lubbock ISD athletes set three regional meet records, one pool record, three city records, and five school records.
