With the new school year underway, we want to remind you about how we can help reduce the spread of communicable illnesses.
Healthy habits prevent germs and infectious diseases from spreading. Learning and practicing these healthy habits can help protect you and those around you.
Wash your hands often. Our hands carry germs, so it’s important to wash them often, even if they don’t look dirty.
Clean and disinfect commonly used surfaces. Germs can live on surfaces, so regular cleaning of high touchpoint areas is recommended.
Cough and sneeze into a tissue or your sleeve. If you are sick, the air that comes out of your mouth when you cough or sneeze may contain germs. Someone close by can breathe in your air, or touch a surface contaminated with your germs, and become ill. Cough or sneeze in a tissue or your shirt sleeve; not into your hands. Remember to toss the tissue and wash your hands. Face masks are also welcomed, but not required.
Stay updated on vaccines. Vaccines can prevent many infectious diseases.
Stay home when you’re sick. When you’re sick, stay home and rest. You’ll recover sooner, and won’t spread germs.
We continue to evaluate public health guidance provided by our governing agencies and local health authorities and make adjustments as needed. The safety of our Lubbock ISD family remains a priority as we nurture, develop, and inspire every child, every day.
