Tomorrow is class picture day! Please send students ready for pictures first thing in the morning.

Before Spring Break, 5th grade learned about the importance of Ellis Island in United States history. They listened to interviews and accounts from citizens who made the journey to America in the 1920’s- one of whom came with a piece of soda bread in her pocket, and recalled trying Pizza for the first time! They then recreated the experience in their classroom and tried Irish Soda Bread for the first time! Then, they took a trip to Texas Tech’s International Cultural Center for a recreated Ellis Island Experience. Every student learned about a home country, was assigned a role in a family, received a passport, and went through all the steps of the journey to America.
