🔬 Investing in middle school science experiences 🔬
Hands-on learning is critical in science education, but many of Lubbock ISD’s middle school science labs haven’t been updated in decades.
The 2025 bond proposal includes funding for middle school science lab renovations, which would:
✔ Provide modern lab spaces for hands-on experiments.
✔ Improve equipment and storage for science instruction.
✔ Support STEM learning and student engagement.
Upgrading these spaces would ensure students have the resources they need for interactive, inquiry-based learning in science.

💰 What can we use bond funds for?💰
School bond funds can only be used for specific projects!
Texas law requires school districts to separate funding into two categories:
✔ M&O (Maintenance & Operations) Tax Rate – Pays for salaries, classroom materials, and daily school operations.
✔ I&S (Interest & Sinking) Tax Rate – Used exclusively for voter-approved bonds to fund new buildings, major renovations, and infrastructure projects.
That means bond funds cannot be used for teacher salaries or daily operations—only for major capital projects like safety updates, facility improvements, and academic spaces.

✔ Lighting & sound systems for performances and events

🏫 What exactly is a school bond? 🏫
A school bond is a funding method that allows school districts to pay for major capital projects—like building renovations, safety improvements, and infrastructure updates—through voter approval.
Think of it like a home mortgage:
✔ The district borrows funds to complete projects.
✔ Bonds are repaid over time using the existing tax structure.
✔ By law, bond funds can only be used for approved capital projects—they cannot fund teacher salaries, classroom supplies, or daily operations.
Lubbock ISD’s 2025 bond proposal will be on the May 3 ballot. Want to learn more? Visit www.LubbockISD.org/2025bond.

📚 How do modern learning spaces support students? 📚
As our district evolves, so do the spaces where students learn. The 2025 bond proposal includes updates to school facilities that would:
✔ Expand science labs to encourage hands-on learning
✔ Renovate fine arts spaces to support creativity and performance
✔ Upgrade technology infrastructure to enhance digital learning opportunities
Updated learning environments can provide modern, flexible spaces that support student education today and in the future.
