Did you know....none of our programs would be possible without the help of our industry partners? One such partner is Robert Madden Industries. They gifted our HVAC students with new tools bags and tools. It was just like a visit from Santa when the students opened and organized their new bags! Thank you, Robert Madden Industries!

Today is Random Acts of Kindness Day! We challenge all of our students and staff to do something kind for someone in order to spread love and happiness

PHOTOS OF THE DAY: Students in Mr. Henry's EMT class had the privilege of touring Aerocare. Students were able to see first hand what is it like to sit in the "air" ambulance - both plane and helicopter. They also had a chance to visit with staff about their job responsibilities, scheduling, and overall systems. It was a great field trip and was incredibly interesting!

Members of HOSA - Future Health Professionals competed over the weekend in Amarillo. In today's episode of ATC Adventures with Owen the Owl: Owen joined culinary students from the ATC and floral design students from Agri-STEM in decorating cookies for cookie bouquets. He's quite the pro with the icing bag!!

Lubbock ISD classes are on a two-hour delay tomorrow, Monday, February 12, due to the increased possibility of icy conditions impacting travel to school and work. School start times will be adjusted as follows: elementary schools will begin at 9:45 a.m., middle schools will begin at 10:20 a.m., and high schools will begin at 10:15 a.m. Buses will run on a two-hour delay schedule. There will be no classes tomorrow at the Byron Martin ATC or the Agri-STEM Complex. Weather conditions will continue to be monitored, and we will provide additional communication tomorrow morning no later than 7 a.m. if there are any changes. Please stay safe and warm!

Let's eat!!! Students from Chef Gooch's Advanced Culinary classes competed in the Aramark Student Nutrition Culinary Star competition at Minute Maid stadium in Houston. This year's challenge was to create a dish without the use of meat. ATC's team created vegetarian chipotle enchiladas. (And I can promise you, there were delicious!!) Pictured with Chef Gooch (center) are Taylor Jackson (TSYWL), Mackie Montgomery (MHS), John Beaird (MHS) and Shawn Padierna (MHS).

Students from our Automotive Technology classes competed in the New Mexico Junior College Automotive Invitational and brought home awards and prizes! Pictured are: Ethan Yoho (CHS) - 7th Place individual; Curien Castillo (MHS) - 3rd Place individual; Ian Marsh (CHS) , Jace Stribling (CHS) and Curien Castillo (MHS) - 3rd place team; Emery Garcia (MHS) - 2nd place individual AND Emery is the first female ever to place in the top three at the New Mexico Junior College Invitational! Way to go! And also - a special shout out to their teachers and automotive staff, Mario Guerrero, James Salazar, and Gary Hebisen!

This past Tuesday, students in the advanced audio/video production class got to visit KCBD studios and learn all about careers in the news!

We did it! We won the "Owlstanding Owl Award" for the month of January. Owen the Owl travels around to different schools who have worked hard to communicate with our community via social media channels and our websites. We are so honored!! Check back often to see what cool trades Owen learns during his time at the ATC!

Chris Carpenter with Armstrong Plumbing, Air, & Electric was named the 2024 Individual Partner of the Year for Lubbock ISD. Chris (pictured center)- along with members of his team - was honored at Lubbock ISD’s Community Partnership Forum. Chris was nominated by our own plumbing and HVAC teacher, Ricky Martinez (pictured far right). Mr. Martinez and Mr. Carpenter work closely to ensure that our students are provided opportunities to learn the plumbing and HVAC businesses. Congratulations, Chris! Thank you for everything you do to support career and technical education in Lubbock ISD.

Did you know that we offer students the opportunity to pursue their phlebotomy certification? Today, students invited friends, family, and teachers in to serve as their "patients". There were "successful sticks" all around!!!!
