Carolyn Thompson

Principal

Carolyn Thompson has been the principal of Matthews Academy since 2010. She was recently inducted into the Texas Tech Basketball Ring of Honor for her years as a successful player in the '80s. She was inspired to pursue a leadership role in Lubbock ISD to make a positive difference in the lives of students and in the community.

Assistant Principal

Jamie is a Lubbockite and an alumni of Monterey High School, Texas Tech University, and Lubbock Christian University. Her teaching career began in 1992 with LISD as a 3rd grade teacher at Hunt Elementary, where she taught 2nd and 3rd grade for Hunt and Bozeman Elementary for 11 years. Changing into an instructional coach for Bozeman for 4yrs, and in the 07-08 school year she became an administrator. Jamie spent seven years in elementary admin. In 2014 became the assistant principal for Smylie Wilson, and this will be her 3rd year as Assistant Principal for Dupre Academy.

 Jamie has a son and daughter-in-law, Joshua and Rebecca, and two grandbabies, Walker and Katherine. She is a member of the Milwaukee Avenue Church of Christ

Assistant Principal

Dr. Reena Johns hails from Morton, Texas. She is the youngest of 11 children who were supremely blessed to be raised by her mother, Ms. Lottie. After graduating from high school, Dr. Johns joined the Lady Raiders of Texas Tech University where she earned her first degree in Education. One of her proudest accomplishments in life was earning her Doctor of Education degree from her alma mater Texas Tech University.
