History

Roscoe Wilson Magnet Elementary School serves approximately 520 culturally and economically diverse students in the Lubbock Independent School District.  Our students consist of those residing in the LISD attendance zone for Roscoe Wilson Elementary as well as those students across the South Plains region that apply and are accepted into our Fine Arts/Humanities Magnet Program. Roscoe Wilson was opened in 1940 and is named after Mr. Roscoe Wilson, a lawyer, businessman, and civic leader in our Lubbock community.

In 2014, Roscoe Wilson became an authorized IB PYP World School. As the first elementary school in this region to earn the distinction of becoming an authorized International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme School, we develop intercultural understanding and respect within local, state and global communities by empowering active and mindful lifelong-learners in a compassionate and safe environment.
