Talkington students can wear their favorite [safe] shoes on Tuesday, November 19 for $2! Bring $2 to the cafeteria that morning and you will get to wear your fave kicks all day! These funds go to the 8th Grade Banquet to celebrate our middle schoolers transitioning to high school.

Talkington parents and guardians are invited to join a virtual meeting with Bowdoin College--one of the top schools in the country--on November 19 at 2:20pm. Bowdoin meets full financial need (great aid award packages regardless of income levels!) and they have some truly incredible programs. We would love for you all to log on to this meeting to learn more about the college admission process and to see why Bowdoin College is so well respected.

Talkington FFA had an outstanding performance this week at the Lubbock District Leadership Development Events in Slaton. Amarachi Uche-Eboh was crowned district Champion in the senior creed speaking contest and will advance to the area contest next Thursday; additionally, she lead the senior quiz team to a 2nd place finish, punching their ticket for Area. Amarachi was the high individual in the contest and Margaret Sawyer was 4th high individual. Other team members include Elizabeth Fitzhugh, Olivia Mercado and Iris Gamez. Iris was also 3rd in the Spanish creed speaking contest!
Courtney Partain was 3rd in the Greenhand Creed Speaking Contest and Johanna Scott was 7th!
Rylie De La Garza brought home fourth in the Job Interview Contest.
The Greenhand Quiz Team tied for 3rd: Team members include Elexis Cantrell, Pema Dickson, Courtney Partain, Daya Hernandez, Trinity Jara, and Johanna Scott. Elexis ranked 7th individually and Courtney was 8th!
The Radio Broadcasting Team finished 6th: Team members include Rylie, Olivia, Ellie, Trinity, Piper, and Elexis.
We are very proud of our girls and their continued success in FFA! These sound like wonderful skills our Warriors are learning through this program! Big thank you to their amazing teacher, Mr. McKinzie!

Today we celebrated the birthday of our school's namesake and benefactor, Margaret Talkington. We kicked off the celebration by recognizing our FFA National Champion Amarachi Uche-Eboh, who shared her award-winning research with us. Our students were able to hear from Mr. McKinzie and the FFA leadership team about all of the great things our FFA offers, from public speaking and quiz contests to all sorts of travel and experiences that make strong leaders--like the amazing Margaret Talkington. At lunch, the celebration continued with delicious cupcakes and ice cream. It is a real honor to have our school named for such a phenomenal woman. We are very proud Warriors.

Hello, Warrior families! I hope everyone enjoyed their Fall Break. On our first day back, we saw many students not in proper dress uniform. Remember, on Wednesdays we wear black dress shoes only, not tennis shoes. Please refer to the dress code on the Talkington website (https://core-docs.s3.amazonaws.com/documents/asset/uploaded_file/3628/tsywl/3017611/Dress_Code_2022-2023.pdf) if you have questions.

We are still accepting clothing donations for Student Council's Thrift Store. We have decided to postpone the event originally scheduled for today in order to collect more donations.

Warriors only fall back when it's Daylight Savings Time: Make sure you adjust your clocks on Sunday, November 3 to be on time to school when we return on Wednesday, November 6 from Fall Break!
