👨🍳🛠️🏥 Expanding Hands-On Learning in CTE! 🏥🛠️👨🍳
Lubbock ISD’s 2025 bond proposal includes enhancements to Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs, helping more students gain real-world skills for future careers.
CTE programs are in high demand, with many students eager to enroll in specialized career pathways. If approved, the bond would fund expansions in:
✔ Culinary Arts – Upgraded facilities to support hands-on training in professional cooking and restaurant management.
✔ Advanced Welding – Expanded space and updated equipment to accommodate more students and help them earn industry certifications.
✔ Health Professions – Enhanced labs, learning areas, and new equipment for students preparing for careers in healthcare.
These improvements would provide students with modern, industry-aligned learning environments, giving them the tools and experience needed for success after graduation.

Lubbock HS student Mason Wittie was presented with the Premier Distinction Award by the National Speech and Debate Association (NSDA) - the highest degree a student can earn in the NSDA Honor Society. This stellar achievement is earned by fewer than 3% of NSDA members before graduation, highlighting Mason's exceptional talent. Mason met the criteria for the award last month through a culmination of merit points from competitions.
Mason competed at 16 speech and debate tournaments this year, 17 the previous year, and 11 during his freshman year, along with competing at the state and national tournaments in 2023 and 2024.
He has once again qualified for State, Nationals, National Individual Events Tournaments of Champions (NIETOC), and the Tournament of Champions (TOC) - one of the most prestigious competitions in American high school speech and debate tournaments.
