If you could give your twenty-one-year-old self one piece one piece of advice, what would it be?
I would tell my 21-year-old self to always have the courage to stand up for what is important to you and not to waste time worrying about what others might think or say. Don't waste time comparing yourself to others--be a trailblazer. You have what it takes.
If you could have dinner with one person, who would you choose, and why?
I would have dinner with my mother because she passed away before I received my doctorate. She remains the driving force behind a lot of what I do, and I would like to tell her that although she did not have the opportunity to finish school, I made it. Her baby is a doctor now.
What advice would you like to give to the Dupre graduates?
Dupre graduates, don't sit back and wait. There will never be the perfect time to do anything, so jump right in and go for it! Also, be kind to others. It costs you nothing to show a fellow human being a little kindness. It goes a long way.
