Mackenzie Middle School History
Mackenzie Junior High School opened its doors in Lubbock ISD in 1963 on a 30-acre site between 11th and 12th streets and Bangor and Chicago Avenues. It was named after Colonor Ranald Slidell Mackenzie and was organized for grades 7-9.
In 2006, the name changed to Mackenzie Middle School, and it was then reorganized for grades 6 through 8.

Mackenzie's mascot is the "Raider," and it has changed several times through the years.
