Specialty Program
The STEM program at Mackenzie is active and developing rapidly.
Our students have the option of taking the following courses:
Engineering and Robotics - This class will teach students about careers in Engineering, Robotics and more. Students will learn how modern
engineers design, build, and test new technologies by working with different hands-on modules. Students
will learn about structures, engineering design, rocketry, and other STEM related activities.
Family and Consumer Sciences - is an academic discipline that combines aspects of social and natural science. FCS deals with the relationship between individuals, families, and communities, and the environment in which they live. The field represents many disciplines including consumer science, nutrition, food preparation, parenting,early childhood education, family economics and resource management, human development, interior design, textiles, apparel design, as well as other related subjects.
AV Production & Communications - This is an exploratory course designed to investigate the skills and technologies performed in the communication
industry. Content includes the application of technology; safety and maintenance of technology; codes, laws and standards; and marketing and technology-related career explorations. Activities may include developing
images, photography, publishing, video production, drafting, printing, and design.
In addition to the coursework, Mackenzie has a very active Makerspace where students may participate in a wide variety of activities such as green screen production, 3D design and printing, many artistic or craft projects, sewing, crocheting, coding, design & building, and circuitry projects.
