Huge thank you to Optimum and Univision, the sponsors of the Hispanic Heritage Essay Contest. Today, their representative, Lucinda Escobar, came to Talkington to present Charly Iaulualo with an iPad and fancy case for her winning entry in the contest. She also gave Mrs. Couch a $500 Donors Choose gift card to fund a project for our school!
When she presented the certificate to Charly, Ms. Escobar mentioned how much Charly's essay had touched her, saying it really meant a lot to her. That's incredible.
Way to go, Charly! Keep up the amazing work!

Calling all 8th and 9th grade parents and guardians!
On Monday, January 13, our counseling team will host a meeting for all 8th and 9th grade families to explain the requirements for graduation, opportunities for endorsements and performance acknowledgements, course offerings, and GPA calculations. They will also be available to answer any questions you have about scheduling and class options. We would love to see you all there.
Please note: There will be two events happening at the same time that night. For this parent meeting, please enter through door 1 by the front office.
Also, after this meeting, we will have a UIL athletics meeting. Feel free to stay for that, if you are interested in knowing more about the upcoming change in our athletic programs.
If you have any questions about the graduation plan meeting, please email brandi.couch@lubbockisd.org.

Congratulations to the amazing Makayla Mack, Talkington class of 2025! She has been accepted to 8 colleges and been offered several scholarships so far--more money to come for sure! She is an incredible product of LISD schools, attending Alderson Elementary before coming to Talkington. She says that she stayed at Talkington because of the opportunities to better herself and her education. She certainly has achieved her goals and more. We are beyond proud of you, Makayla!
Makayla plans to major in agriculture and early childhood education. She will continue to make us proud in either, or both, of these fields. Way to go!

Hello families,
Our amazing Academic Enrichment Day is January 10, and our Student Council needs your help to support our students' passion projects. We have 35 student teachers who will be sharing their enthusiasm for art, academics, and health awareness with their classmates, and some of those projects require supplies. We would love if you could help us clear the Amazon Wishlist: tinyurl.com/AEDayJan10
In addition, we will have extended lunch times for our teachers, and we need your help to monitor the students while our amazing staff gets a break. You can sign up for that here: tinyurl.AEVolunteerJan10
If you have any questions about AE Day or want to volunteer for more than just the lunch rotation, please contact our Student Council sponsor at brandi.couch@lubbockisd.org.
Thank you, and have a happy holiday!

Way to go, Mychael Dawodu! This amazing senior has already been accepted to 8 colleges in 4 different states, with more great news on the way, no doubt. And what a great college list, including several HBCUs, a women's college, faith-based institutions, public and private schools--loving the mix of opportunities. Excellent choices!
Mychael will be pursuing a career in the medical field, and we are so grateful that she will be looking out for us in the future! Please help us congratulate this outstanding Warrior.
