Age of Empires is a real-time strategy (RTS) games developed by Ensemble Studios and Xbox Game Studios. The game focuses on building and managing civilizations throughout different periods of history. Players take on the role of a leader and guide their civilization to construct buildings, gather resources, train armies, research technologies, and engage in warfare with other players. Each empire allows players to compete in various periods of time; such as the Stone Age, Classical Age, or Medieval period. Each period of time offers unique units, technologies, and strategies for creating various competion oppertunites. Age of Empires 2 has gained a significant following and is known for its historical accuracy, challenging gameplay, and engaging multiplayer modes.
