The Lubbock High School Orchestra Program offers a thoughtfully designed course for students with entry-level skills in violin, viola, cello, and bass. It creates an inclusive and supportive environment for students eager to enhance their musical abilities and grow as performers.
Throughout the year, students will focus on developing music literacy, building a strong foundation in music notation, theory, and technique. Alongside these technical skills, students will also nurture their creative expression through performance. The curriculum emphasizes the historical and cultural significance of the pieces studied, encouraging students to engage critically with their music and evaluate their own performances with insight.
As part of the orchestra, students will perform together as a cohesive ensemble at concerts and participate in UIL Concert and Sight Reading Evaluations. The orchestra also collaborates with the entire LHS orchestra program for various events throughout the year, providing students with the opportunity to experience larger-scale performances and deepen their connection to the music community.
This course offers a wonderful opportunity for students to grow as musicians, form lasting friendships, and experience the joy and fulfillment of performing in a vibrant and dynamic orchestral setting.
