In the Lubbock High School Folklorico Program, students immerse themselves in the vibrant dance techniques and traditions of Mexican Folklore, with a primary focus on the rich heritage of Jalisco, Mexico. This culturally enriching program emphasizes body movement and artistic expression, allowing students to develop their performance skills while gaining a deeper understanding of the historical and cultural significance behind each dance.

Students will engage in critical evaluation, refining their technique and artistry through constructive feedback. Success in the program requires full commitment, including attendance at all sectionals, performances, and rehearsals outside of regular school hours. Public performances are an integral part of the Folklorico experience, offering students the chance to showcase their skills and celebrate Mexican culture within the community.

In addition to their dedication to rehearsals, students are also required to purchase their own folkloric shoes, which are essential for performances.
