The Lubbock High School Art Program offers a comprehensive range of courses designed to develop students’ artistic skills across various mediums, from foundational techniques to advanced studies. Students can begin with Art I: Introduction to Art, where they learn the basics of design and explore drawing, painting, and crafts. For those with more experience, Art I: Studio builds on these fundamentals, allowing for a deeper dive into advanced techniques.
As students progress to Art II, they can choose from specialized classes in 2D and 3D art, photography, and more, each emphasizing advanced skills and creative expression. The program also includes an AP Art III: Art History course that offers an introductory college-level survey of global artistic movements. Advanced courses in Art III and Art IV allow students to focus on ceramics, drawing, jewelry-making, painting, printmaking, and sculpture, honing their skills and encouraging independent projects.
Throughout the program, students engage critically with their work, understanding the historical and cultural significance of their art. By participating in exhibitions and collaborative projects, they gain invaluable experience and develop lasting friendships in a supportive artistic community.
